6 January 2014 position report 9am(South African time)
Our POSITION THIS AM IS:
S32 40,72
E14 09.33
Lots of wind.. had 50 across the deck this am.. had surfs doing 20knots.
taking it more conservative, running before it with a J4 up. Very wet on
deck, with a confused sea state.
From the safety of my couch... I humbly salute you, Dale & Ian.
The pair of you have the courage to live your lives to the full. Please keep your wits about you & race to the best of your abilities. I have every faith in you... The finish line... Must be a bitter sweet goal, in context of the past 24 hours that the Cape to Rio fleet has endured. The fleets continued perseverance & courage only serves to honour the memory of your lost comrade...
My thoughts are with you, the fleet & their loved ones.
My thoughts are with friends who are taking part in the Cape To Rio Yacht race and taking a battering in the South Atlantic. Many reports of damage and 1 fatality on the Angolan entry, Bille. Stay safe to those on Tulliana, Yolo, Investec Ciao Bella and more - For Those in peril on the sea...
